About Pooja

Asthi Visarjan in Haridwar is a ritual that involves the ashes (asthi) of a deceased person into the holy river water. This puja is an important part of the last rites. During Asthi Visarjan Puja family members conduct prayer for the good journey to their afterlife, chant Mantras and take blessings from the soul.

Process

  1. Ashes collection - When the dead person’s cremation is completed, the ashes and bones of his body are collected and placed in a pot or Kalash.
  2. Execute the puja- A priest or pandit conducts a puja or religious ceremony before immersing the ashes.
  3. Pouring the ashes - The family carefully immersed Ashes or bones in the sacred water of Ganga. That represents the release of departed spirits from the physical body to the Journey of moksha.

  4. Offerings and last prayers - After immersing the ashes in the Ganga, the family offers prayers to seek the blessings of their ancestors and makes offerings like flowers, sweets, and clothes to fulfil the Asthi Visarjan ceremony.
